FROM INFORMING TO STORYTELLING
Girls Gotta Run Foundation is a non-profit organization that invests in girls who use education and running to create new opportunities for themselves and their families. This redesign of their 2019 site reflects the invigorated momentum and forward-thinking mission of their brand today.
Girls Gotta Run Foundation Website
Role: Graphic Designer, Squarespace Designer
Core Partner: Blaine Kebede, GGRF Executive Director
GOALS:
To modernize and strengthen the Girls Gotta Run online presence through a refreshed, easy-to-navigate Squarespace 7.1 site that clearly communicates the organization’s mission, drives donations, and supports user engagement through improved structure and design.
THE WORK:
I audited the old site and reviewed analytics, then recommended an updated site architecture and navigation structure. I created a sitemap and wireframes, as well as a visual direction moodboard to help the team visualize the changes. I migrated the site from Squarespace 7.0 to 7.1, then designed each page with a bold, mission-forward hierarchy, clear CTAs, and user-friendly navigation.
SUCCESSES:
The new Girls Gotta Run Foundation website brings navigational clarity, clear calls-to-action, and user-friendly content organization. The bold type and high-impact photos spark interest, showcase the soul of the organization, and encourage donations, fundraising, and partnerships. It looks and acts like a contemporary website, and it shines a light on the organization’s impact and mission.
Process
I used Figma to organize my thinking and present ideas to the Girls Gotta Run team. It was especially useful for tracking comments and ideas in real time. We collaborated on building the navigation and mapping the pages. I designed wireframes and walked through them with the team. We took our time and made sure it felt right, answering some of the issues the old site had in terms of ease of navigation and clear user journey.
